The Peranakan is a lovely themed restaurant in Claymore Connect that has such a cheerful vibe to it. With floral themed wallpapers and antiques displayed in shelves, this is a great place to have a nice meal with your friends and family.
I absolutely love anything durian, and I don’t care if my fingers are going to smell like durian for the next few days because it is worth it. Imagine how excited I was when The Peranakan launched a Gila Durian Menu! It is an 8-course durian heaven with famous durians like D24, Mao Shang Wang and Malaysian Kampong. They even provide fish skin and free flow hot lemongrass/pandan tea.
Start off with their two appetisers, the first being the Toasties with Durian Puree. Who knew that durian and bread would taste so good? The durian puree was so rich and flavourful, it just melted in my mouth.
I was not really a fan of the second appetiser, D24 Durian Pengat, as I felt the pengat was quite overpowering and durian puree did not really go well together with it.
The Pandan Chiffon Cake with D24 and Kampung Durian Puree is their starter dish and it had to be one of my favourite dishes. The chiffon cake was fluffy and fragrant with durian puree in between the layers, I felt like I was having a durian-infused cake.
Their ‘main course’ consisted of the Fragrant Rice with Mao Shang Wang Durian, which was plain rice at the bottom and durian layered on top.
Also, the Pulot Enti D24 was a blue sticky rice made with the blue pea flower, sitting on a bed of durian puree.
The D24 Durian Chendol was such an eyeful. This cold dessert was so refreshing with the shaved ice and the ‘worm-like’ green flour, topped with durian puree again.
